01 Technical project management
Technical projects have to hold together across engineering, procurement, fabrication and site. My background as a mechanical engineering technician means I can take technical clarifications directly with engineering, suppliers and the people doing the work – and spot practical issues early.
I use detailed weekly schedules alongside high-level plans, and follow up on budget, cost, progress and risk throughout execution.

My experience covers concept development, mechanical design, product development, design reviews and technical documentation, including BOMs, P&IDs and GA drawings. I coordinate engineering, procurement and fabrication, focusing on quality, manufacturability and installation. My hands-on background helps deliver practical, reliable engineering solutions.

I manage technical projects from engineering and planning through procurement, fabrication, installation, testing and handover.
My experience includes budget responsibility, cost control, scheduling, resource planning, risk management and coordination of multidisciplinary teams. I use Microsoft Project and Excel for planning and progress tracking. I work with technical specifications, requests for quotation (RFQs), purchase orders (POs), contract documentation, supplier management and technical clarifications, focusing on quality and delivery.
I lead and coordinate engineering for custom-built machinery, including Engineered-to-Order (ETO) and OEM projects. My experience includes SolidWorks and PDM since 2007, product development, BOMs, P&IDs, GA drawings and ERP (SAP).
I conduct design reviews and use FMEA and DFMEA to assess technical risks. Drawing on my hands-on background, I consider the entire product lifecycle, from concept and manufacturing through installation, operation, maintenance and upgrades to end-of-life recycling.
When taking over a project, I review the budget and its assumptions to identify financial risks. I assess cost estimates, materials, labour hours, subcontractors and lessons learned from previous projects.
Throughout execution, I monitor budgets, actual costs, progress and remaining work. Applying Earned Value Management (EVM) principles, I forecast final project costs and identify deviations early, enabling corrective action before issues escalate.
My technical curiosity drives me to follow through on commitments and review engineering deliverables and documentation in detail. This helps me identify potential issues early and take corrective action.
I use detailed weekly schedules alongside high-level plans for the coming weeks and months, supported by realistic milestones. I continuously monitor progress, risks and costs, adjust plans with the team and report project status to the steering committee, highlighting deviations and decisions required.
